A nation-wide AF screening strategy in Austria
Building on earlier work that more than doubled detection of treatment-relevant AF, Innsbruck aims to develop and validate a nation-wide digital screening and treatment strategy.
Objective
To develop, implement and validate an Austria-wide digital screening and treatment strategy for atrial fibrillation, reducing the burden and mortality associated with the condition.
Approach
The clinic for cardiology and angiology at the University of Innsbruck is developing the strategy with FibriCheck, building on a previous study in which a digital screening strategy more than doubled the detection rate of treatment-relevant atrial fibrillation. The new strategy is to be rolled out nation-wide.
Outcome
Axel Bauer, director of the clinic for cardiology and angiology, said that digital technologies hold immense potential for medicine and could revolutionise the early detection and treatment of atrial fibrillation.
