How does it work?
Project outline:Through a collaboration between FibriCheck, MUMC+ and Biosense Webster, the TeleCheck-AF project enabled over 40 European clinics to use tele-consultations supported by app-based heart rate and heart rhythm monitoring for the follow up and management of patients with AF or suspected AF.
FibriCheck enables patients to measure their heart rate and rhythm prior to their consultation and provides them with educational information about AF, its complications and treatment via the app. The data from the FibriCheck measurements allows treating physicians and nurses to gain insights into the heart rate and rhythm of patients prior to their consultation, supporting their clinical decision making. FibriCheck as a remote monitoring tool pre-consultation greatly reduces the burden on healthcare systems, as research proved that the implementation of this digital pathway resulted in 71% fewer ECG examinations, 72% less need for Holter monitors, 75% shorter consultations times and 75% less travel time expenditure, thereby leading to significant time and cost savings. Patients indicated increased feelings of safety (85%) and satisfaction, and found FibriCheck easy to use (100%). Thanks to the success and the scalability of this digital pathway, app-based remote heart rhythm measurements and tele-consultations are now the standard for patients suffering from AF, with the project even paving the way for a FibriCheck reimbursement code by Dutch healthcare insurer VGZ.

Reviews from professionals
“The on-demand prescription of FibriCheck in TeleCheck-AF makes comprehensive remote AF-management possible during COVID-19.”
Dr Dominik Linz, Cardiologist at Maastricht UMC+, Netherlands
“Within TeleCheck-AF patients have an important and active role in their care process, and the treatment team highly relies on their cooperation and self-management by using the FibriCheck app to record their heart rhythm and heart rate”
