In order to achieve a high quality analysis of your heart rhythm, it is required that FibriCheck registers your heart rhythm during 60 seconds. On the screen a timer is displayed and your heart rate is visualized as well in beats per minute (bpm).
Open the FibriCheck application and select ‘My FibriCheck’. Here, all previous measurements can be found. You will see the overview of the FibriCheck measurements sorted by date. If you tap a measurement, you will see more details of this measurement.
You will receive feedback about your heart rate and heart rhythm. Your heart rate represents the number of contractions of the heart per minute (bpm), while your heart rhythm informs you about the regularity pattern of these contractions. A normal heart rhyhtm has a regular pattern.
As soon as the measurement is completed, the FibriCheck algorithm will make a first analysis of your recording and you will receive instant feedback. The FibriCheck algorithms label the measurement based on three different colors: green, orange and blue. The results of all your measurements are shared with a medical professional as well, who does have the option to change the color code.
A green label means low heart rhythm variability is present indicating a normal and regular heart rhythm while orange means rhythm variabilities have been detected and possible arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation or extrasystoles may be present. When the quality of the measurement is not sufficient, the measurement is labeled as blue. It is recommended to perform a new measurement when a measurement is labeled blue.
If you think you may have an urgent medical emergency, please contact your physician or the emergency services immediately.
As FibriCheck is an app on prescription of a physician (or monitoring centre), your data can only be accessed by these trained professionals. You can access or change your personal data in the FibriCheck application under ‘Profile’.

When you scan your FibriCheck prescription, you will be automatically redirected to the payment page. If you are instructed to pay the fees directly to Qompium, you shall be able to choose between the following payment options by Visa card or MasterCard:
Additionally, you also have the option to pay by BC/MC but due to legal constraints, you will be obliged to pay the fees for the entire duration of the term as a one-off payment.

Once you are logged in, FibriCheck does not require Internet connection to measure your heart rhythm. However, to automatically share your measurements with a physician or monitoring centre, an Internet connection is required. All measurements that are performed without internet connection are automatically stored on your device and will be sent to your physician or monitoring centre as soon as the connection is restored.
FibriCheck measures your heart rhythm by detecting the color variations of the bloodstream in your fingertip. This technique is called photoplethysmography and uses the camera and flash of the smartphone. With each heartbeat, blood is pumped through the body which causes a pressure pulse. This pulse propagates through the arteries causing dilatation of the arteries. As a result, the blood can deflect sideways and will absorb more light. The heart rate and rhythm can be analyzed based on this technique.
All data communication makes use of a secured connection. Personal data is stored on the smartphone and on encrypted servers. When you log out, the secured connection with the platform will be disconnected. You need to be signed in to access your personal data.
Remove your smartphone case, if present. Open the FibriCheck application and tap ‘Measure’ on the FibriCheck welcome screen. As you will notice, the flash turns on and an instruction screen shows how a correct measurement should be performed. Sit comfortable and place your hand on a table. Next, place the camera and flash of the smartphone on your finger! FibriCheck will now detect a valid pulse and registers this for 60 seconds.
