AF detection after TIA presented at the World Stroke Congress

World Stroke Congress

FibriCheck showed a 12% AF detection rate after TIA versus 1 to 2% with standard ECG, with every detected case confirmed.

Overview

At the 17th World Stroke Congress, Prerna Misra presented a compelling evaluation of FibriCheck in patients who had experienced a transient ischaemic attack. FibriCheck demonstrated a notable atrial fibrillation detection rate of 12%, far surpassing the 1 to 2% achieved with standard ECG, and in every case where FibriCheck detected AF, subsequent ECG confirmed the diagnosis.

Outcome

All patients were asymptomatic when they used FibriCheck, illustrating the value of regular, longitudinal spot-checks in identifying hidden arrhythmias. Early detection enabled early intervention, lowering the risk of secondary strokes, and the study suggested digital tools like FibriCheck could reduce the need for inpatient monitoring and conserve NHS resources.
